Three
Rivers Triathlon Is Spectacular: 14 Minute PR!
I love the smaller races. Emmanuel
Millet who is the North American representative of Aquaman
Wetsuits, lives in Three Rivers. He puts on a great event.
In the third week of August, the Three Rivers (Michigan)
Olympic/Sprint distance Triathlon takes place...

Ironman
Lake Placid 2008: Or Should I Say “Ironman Deluge?”
Ironman Lake Placid, 2008, meant many things to me.
In 2005 I signed up for the 2006 race, only to have
my hopes and dreams dashed 6 weeks before the race
because of serious parasite illness. Although,
my last two races in 2006 were spectacular, as I set
my half ironman personal record of 5:17 (Steelhead)
and my ironman record of 12 hours 11 minutes (Ironman
Florida)...

Biking
in Maine & Massachusetts
Marion and I just returned from Maine. We went for
a friend, Peter Blakemore's graduation from Osteopathic
Medical School, where Ross 'hooded' him, signifying that
Peter is now a doctor. Together we cycled around the
Biddeford Pool area. We were also able to spend
some time in Cape Cod where we had a wonderful cycle
on the Cape Cod Rail Trail...

How
I Looked After 20 Mile Run in
Preparation for Ironman Lake
Placid
Marion and I love to go to Waterfall Glen for our long runs.
It is a
9.4 mile loop that is about 25 minutes from our home. Is a
gravel path
through lakes, ponds and has basically no car traffic. It is
just a
great place to run because there are mile markers and lots
of hills...

Training
in Black Earth Wisconsin
for Ironman Lake Placid
In the spring of my 4th year of medical school, I was fortunate
enough to schedule an elective rotation in Prolotherapy with
Dr. Ross Hauser, M.D., of Caring
Medical and Rehabilitative Services in Oak Park, IL. Having
nearly completed the traditional medical school requirements,
I was excited to finally have the opportunity to explore patient
care in an alternative environment.

Thoughts
on Caring Medical
by Patrick Hobbins, MS-IV
While many triathletes go the course venue for a triathlon
camp, I went to my favorite place to cycle, Black Earth Wisconsin.
Our friends Kurt and Diane Ehling have a place up there.
In any direction there is 1000 feet of elevation change for
every 10 miles of riding. The roads have almost no traffic
on them.

The
Races of Ross Hauser: The Early Years
In 2001 I started exercising because I had gotten
fat! My body fat was over 30% and my weight was
over 180. My waist line was up to 34 and going
higher. I am currently at 155, 7% body fat and
my waist is 31. It is hard to believe when I
started exercising that it would lead to me doing
marathons then ultramarathons, then triathlons
leading to being a 4-time Ironman finisher. It
is just amazing when I look at these pictures... |

Life
Lessons Learned on the Roads of Italy:
Chronicle of Tuscany Cycling Adventure
Ever since taking up cycling about six years ago, Marion
and I have looked at various cycling tours. We finally chose
Tuscany Italy because of Marion’s heritage (Italian),
her love for cooking and wine, and our friends Allan and
Barb Parungao and Nicole Baird and Travis Mitchell would
be joining us. The trip also coincided with the release of
our book The Hauser Diet. |

Dr.
Hauser's Personal Best Time in the Steelhead Half Ironman!
(5:17)
Life is funny or crazy depending how you look
at it. On June 13th I spent 7 hours in the
emergency room because I was sick I had an
intestinal parasite called Giardia. Within
two days of getting on the right treatment
I started to feel better. So good in fact that
on August 4th, 7 weeks later I was setting
my personal record in the half ironman. |
